This map is a tool to find out the percentage of students in your neighborhood who are graduating high school ready for college.
Over the last 10 years, Mayor Bloomberg's administration has focused on expanding high school choice, with the goal that “neither resources nor demography is destiny in the classroom” (Chancellor Klein). However, a new report by the Annenberg Institute for School Reform reveals that the racial and economic profile of a student's home neighborhood continues to be a strong predictor of their chances of graduating ready for college. This map demonstrates the huge disparities in college readiness across the city's boroughs and neighborhoods, and highlights the urgent need for an education agenda that will provide students in all neighborhoods with the opportunity for a college-preparatory education.
