Hear directly from students, parents and educators share their experiences about why we need culturally responsive education. Conversations about race, gender, class clearly are not given enough place in the classroom despite how much they affect students’ live experiences. Educators describe how they often have to leave such conversations out of their curriculum because of high stakes testing and test scores as schools’ main focus. CRE, on the other hand, grows students’ consciousness of who they are, what they bring to the table, their histories, and how to navigate it from a place of strength and empowerment.

CRSE One Pagers
What is Culturally Responsive Sustaining Education (CRSE)? The Education Justice Research and Organizing Collaborative (EJ-ROC) helps break down CRSE into easily understandable terms through these new, multilingual one-pagers.. These one-pagers make it clear that CRSE works. Students excel in school when they see themselves reflected in the classroom and have strong, authentic relationships with their teachers The public school curriculum does not reflect the diversity and needs of students. We need CRSE to transform schools today. One Pagers are available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean and Bangla. Download them here.
