Following months of parent protest the State Supreme Court ruled that the Department of Education decision to close 19 schools across the city was “Null and void”. This is a huge victory for parents, students, and teachers, but the fight isn’t over. The Department of Education would still rather close our community schools than give us the resources to succeed.
Parents and community members are continuing the fight for our children on the steps of the Department of Education!
Join us on March 2nd at noon at Tweed as CEJ calls for a moratorium on school closings and the creation of a zone for low-performing schools to implement REAL educational change before they are shut down.
