CEJ’s most recent report addresses the lack of diversity in NYC public school curriculum. On October 4th, over 75 parents, youth, elected officials, and advocates took to the steps of the Department of Education to demand for the creation and adoption of a Culturally Responsive Curriculum in New York City Schools. The Daily News quotes CEJ Coordinator Natasha Capers saying, “Positive representation matters, because seeing yourself allows you to think about who you can become in the future…If the stories and authors do not reflect the student population, how do we expect students stay grounded in what they’re learning?”
